OK, the "other stuff" probably doesn't belong, but it isn't a bad diversion. The problem is this is a "basic" bike with "basic" problems. (One of the selling points for me was "be religious about oil changes, and she'll run forever.") We sure can't talk about problems with carb timing, or that pesky shaft drive....
Sure, we are starting to see alot of the same stuff over and over again. And I'm sure the new folks are thankful for that. Sure, some of it appears to be "common sense" stuff that just isn't thought out- but how many folks have had problems starting until a new set of eyeballs noticed the kill switch was off?!
And by the way, if we only wanted to hear new stuff, some of the characters would be less interesting (for instance, I love reading WD's bitching about the bike and promises to return to a Harley, but ya know what? I've heard it before!!!).
I agree that we need to rejuvinate discussion about the bike, but I don't think we have to kill the other stuff entirely. Oh yeah, and did anyone ever notice how the political-type posts get a string of 15 reponses, but the maintenance ones sometimes only get 2 or 3? If you don't like the flames, quit feeding the fire! (Me, I enjoy a little blaze every now and again!)
